My Computer is OKAY!!!

THANKS TO ALI AT DEPENDABLE I.T., I now have a BEAUTIFULLY-FUNCTIONING computer.

Not only did he clean up all the debris that I had unknowingly collected, but he installed and uninstalled, programmed my security scans, and much, much more, and also explained everything with total grace and dazzling expertise.

Let me tell you the most amazing part of this experience!  ALL THIS WORK WAS DONE FOR ONE PRICE!  $74.99

If my computer was not fixable, I WOULD NOT HAVE PAID. Unbelievable in this day and age.

I.T. ADVENTURE, FOLKS!!

HAVE FOUND A GREAT COMPANY!!  It’s called Dependable IT (http://www.dependableit.com/)

One of their tech people, named Ali, has worked tirelessly for hours to clear my computer of its numerous foibles, for lack of a better word.

Now, let me tell you the most amazing part!  I will not be charged unless my computer is fixed!  And I have the whole weekend to use it to make sure. (That’s just lucky timing for me, BONUS, and I will TAKE it!!)

At the same time, I now have more reliable internet service, so I expect to be able to get through my Scrabble, Tweets, and emails without waiting, waiting, waiting!

I’ll let you know what happens. I WISH EVERYONE A FINE HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

Learning that TWITTER is very worthwhile! Allow me to SHARE!

This is me looking more dressed up!

WOW! Started my Twitter account about a month ago, and am VERY happy with the dialogue and free offers that have come my way.  Tweet me @eleanorlawrie1

Let me share a few sites that I am now using.  All the following deal with promoting eBooks, and all came from Twitter exposure. P.S. you must have Followers!!

AHA Program, Authors Helping Authors is at the TOP of my list. Free promotion using Twitter, so anything I Tweet is re-Tweeted forward. Also, my free gift is re-Tweeting any Tweet I send which mentions my book, and that happens through 3 or 4 Twitter accounts. Twitter: @ahapartners  Web: authorjd.com/aha-program/

Sites to post your title, bio etc: goodreads.com and iauthor.uk.com. I needed email help several times to complete my GoodReads upload, but iAuthor was totally user-friendly, so I did it in a few minutes on my own. These sites offer recommendations, author profiles and more.

Bookmarketingtools.com,   sellmorebooks.com,   pitchrate.com,   bookpromoter.in,   authorsinfo.com are also places with free services.

sleepybookworm.com does E-Book promotions for a whole year for $29.99!

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Get to work!  And  GOOD LUCK!!

My CreateSpace Book!

DSC00003 DSC00005

I’m thrilled with the quality of the book printed by CreateSpace!  The book is perfect, binding is beautiful, colour is brilliant, paper is heavy-weight and bright white. The trim is excellent, cover is high gloss. Everything is very much according to the specs given by the site. Delivery was super-prompt.

I hope you will visit the page at createspace.com/5399580 and have a look, and maybe even buy one to put away as a gift for a child in your family or circle of friends.

SHELBY F. SQUIRREL will provide many hours of enjoyment to any child between 4 and 11.

PS: Now that it’s 2023, and I’m cleaning up my website, Shelby is no longer on Amazon.

I hope soon to be able to announce a new way to purchase The Shelby F. Squirrel Series.

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

Robin Bird in Green Grass

Here’s a nice Sign of Spring!  Shelby collides with a mother robin in one of the stories, and has to get his mother and sister to help him pull her up to her nest, where the eggs are starting to get cold. Like most little kids, he was having fun without looking where he was going!

Since my impatient nature allowed me to print my business cards before deciding to put Shelby on CreateSpace, Amazon’s print-on-demand site, I am now adding the link BY HAND to all my business cards (as punishment, I’m sure, for not looking where I was going!). Writer’s cramp is setting in, folks!  Lesson to me: Wait and plan properly!!!

Here’s the link, so easy to TYPE it!  createspace.com/5399580

Did you read Winnie the Pooh?

snow owl

There was a wonderful character called OWL in those stories. SHELBY F. SQUIRREL’S kindly uncle is called the Wise Old Owl. Of course, in nature owls are predators and flying squirrels would be natural prey, but in a story for young children fancy can implemented. Interesting classroom discussion fodder for the middle grades 4 to 6, there is a wealth of similar opportunity in this book.

If you loved A.A. Milne’s, Thornton W. Burgess’s and Beatrix Potter’s books for children, you will also love my Shelby stories.

Fun, antics and morals abound. Each story is different and stands alone. A variety of characters, wide range of topics and overriding focus on nature and the environment are the ingredients. Sparkling colour photographs accompany each story. The book can be enjoyed for many years, by reading to younger children, and older kids owning a book they can read and pass on to their own families with pride.

Paperback now available at createspace.com/5399580.

Meet WEE JIMMY!

Our Wee Jimmy 2014 (K)

He’s 12 years old this year. His little leg band says so.

Jimmy is our example of how to be a good friend and an amiable companion. He never complains when Buddy harasses him or chases him out of the food dish or off a perch where he’s snoozing.

He would be the peace maker among war chiefs or politicians, our little bird. Poise, dignity and wise comments just when needed, that’s just how he is.

His own particular very unbudgie-like “Chee Qua” accompanied by an emphatic nod of his head is music to our ears. We figure he must have heard this sound during the months in the pet store before he became a wonderful birthday gift from my sweet daughter, Kira. No idea to this day what on earth kind of critter he took that from, but he made it his own!!!

A toast to Wee Jimmy and all similar creatures who live in harmony with any and all beings.

Shelby F. Squirrel e-Books now AVAILABLE!!

P1110675

In the late Spring Shelby F.(for flying) Squirrel and his sister, Darby, are told they are old enough to leave the nest and even go down the tree trunk (always with their mother!) to look for nuts on the ground. AND they find out they are FLYING squirrels (which makes Shelby run away in horror! Alone, down the tree, OH, NO!!) but who would ever guess they would make it to CYBERSPACE too!! It’s pretty exciting to say the least!  Maybe Shelby looked something like the little guy in the photo, who is actually a regular gray squirrel, when his mother told him the big, wide world is waiting!

The Complete Adventures of SHELBY F. SQUIRREL and Friends is now available as an e-Book on both Amazon.com and KoboBooks.com.  In each case, please select e-Books, then type in my name (Eleanor Lawrie) or the book title.  Previews are available!

PLEASE have a look, tell your friends and let me know what you think! SHELBY’S WAITING FOR YOU, AND ALL YOUR KIDS AGED 4 TO 10!!  UPDATE: July 2023. No longer on Amazon or Kobo and hoping to make an announcement before too long as to where the series will be available.
